VisiCan Generations and Hardware Architecture
To date, five different VisiCan generations have been produced:
- Generations 1, 2, and 3: Although their motherboard designs differ, they all share the same CPU.
- 4th Generation (2023–2025): VisiCan devices (including VentMount models) use a different CPU architecture.
- 5th Generation (2025+): These devices feature completely new hardware, including the display, motherboard, MCU, and physical buttons.
VisiCan devices are offered in various screen sizes, resolutions, and button/display layouts.

Firmware Files and Naming Structure
- .hex Files: The main firmware files responsible for ECU communication tasks and rendering real-time data on the VisiCan display.
- .l4h Files: Boot logo files for 4th Generation VisiCan displays, containing 240x240 pixel images displayed briefly during startup.
- .lhh Files: Full-screen boot logo files for 5th Generation VisiCan displays, containing 320x240 pixel images displayed briefly during startup.
- .bah Files: Boot animation files for 5th Generation VisiCan displays, containing 240x240 pixel animations shown briefly during startup.
- .lbh Files: Background image files for 5th Generation VisiCan displays, containing 320x240 pixel images displayed behind interface pages while operating in Light (Day) Mode.
- .dbh Files: Background image files for 5th Generation VisiCan displays, containing 320x240 pixel images displayed behind interface pages while operating in Dark (Night) Mode.

Obtaining the Latest VisiCan Firmware
Firmware updates are shared via email as they are uniquely paired and matched to each specific device.
To request an update, please provide the following information:
- Your contact and device details (including purchase date and VisiCan model).
- A photo of the device information screen (Press and hold Button #3 while turning on the ignition or connecting the OBD cable).
- Email Address: info@visicaneu.com
- Subject Line: “VisiCan Firmware Update Request”
When approved, update files are typically delivered within 1–3 business days.
Step 2: Driver Installation for the USB-TTL Interface
- Step 2.1:
It is strongly recommended to install the official drivers provided by VisiCan rather than relying on Windows default automatic drivers. For CP2102 Chip: Windows 10 / 11: CP210x_Windows_Drivers.zip Windows 7 / 8: CP210x_Universal_Windows_Drivers.zip
- Step 2.2:
Download the drivers and extract the archive to your Downloads folder.
- Step 2.3:
Plug the USB-TTL interface into your computer. Open Device Manager and click on Scan for hardware changes.

- Step 2.4:
Right-click on CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller listed under "Other devices" and select Update driver.

- Step 2.5:
Select Browse my computer for drivers.

- Step 2.6:
Select the folder where you extracted the drivers and click Next.

- Step 2.7:
Once the installation is complete, the USB-TTL interface will appear under Ports (COM & LPT). Note down the COM port number shown in parentheses.

Step 3: Flashing Firmware to the VisiCan Display
- Step 3.1:
Open Device Manager while the USB-TTL interface is disconnected. Connect the USB-TTL interface and note down the assigned COM port number. While powering on the device, press and hold Button #1. The OBD cable must remain connected.
- Step 3.2:
Open the WebTools web page using a Chromium-based web browser (Google Chrome, Opera, or Microsoft Edge). Click the "Firmware Update Tool" button located at the bottom row to open the Firmware Update page.

- Step 3.3:
Click the "Connect" button under the Serial Connection section. In the pop-up window, select the COM port name you noted in Step 3.1 and click Connect.

- Step 3.4:
Once the serial port selection is complete, click the "Choose File" button under the active Firmware Binary section. In the file dialog, select the file you wish to flash to your VisiCan display and click "Open". Once the file name appears on the screen, the "Flash Firmware" button will become active.
- Step 3.5:
Turn off the vehicle ignition. Press and hold Button #1 on your VisiCan display and turn the ignition back on. The display will remain blank; this indicates that the VisiCan has booted into Programming Mode (Boot Mode).
While the device is in Programming Mode, click the "Flash Firmware" button to start the installation process.

- Step 3.6:
When the process finishes, the message "Flash Complete" will appear, and the VisiCan display will automatically reboot.

Note: You can repeat the procedure starting from Step 3.2 for any other firmware or asset files (.hex, .l4h, .lhh, .bah, etc.). This allows you to easily update or customize sub-components such as the Boot Logo, Background Image, or Boot Animation.
